Who lives in a hole like this?

We have always had sporadic holes in our garden- you block one, and anothe appears somewhere else.
It used to annoy is, but now we have come to the conclusion, that what ever it is hasn't bitten the cat yet, so probably won't, and it doesn't want to be caught!

While I was painting the wall, I looked down and found another hole and did double take- staring back at me was a toad, a little perturbed by the occasional splash of paint that hit him in the face!
