Gothic Revival

All things Gothic are making a comeback for A/W. But this time its less scary and more sophisticated. Think dark lips, pale shimmering eyes, black lace and velvet. For inspiration look to one of my favourite actresses Emma Stone looking incredible in Gucci at The Amazing Spiderman Premier. I'll be using Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme in Black Cherry and Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Épatant to recreate her look.

I also used the trend as an excuse to try out the so-called 'Dita Von Teese' manicure in Chanel Rouge Noir. It takes a bit of patience (and practice) but once you get the knack its quite easy and looks great! I filed my nails to quite a rounded point then pushed back the cuticles so I could leave the bottom of my nail bed free of polish to create the half moon effect. Just use a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover to tidy up any mistakes.

If going for the full on look seems a bit daunting why not try it out with accessories first. Ornate and edgy jewellery is a great way to channel the trend.
