Banana anyone

There are loads of different types of bananas in Malaysia. The variety in the UK shops is called a Cavendish banana and it is now suffering from banana blight so the experts rekon we will all be eating a different variety soon that has more resistance to blight. I had a tiny fat one today that was very sweet but with a funny aftertaste. The ones pictured will need a few more days growing before they will be ready. Incidentally a banana plant is not a free it is a herbaceous plant. They are propagated by suckers-small plants coming off the mother plant - usually. This is because almost all cultivated plants have no seeds. When you do find a banana with seeds it is like a peppercorn. Lecture over for today.
