Unwinding

Completing things before taking a break and preparing for the break is what's led to the concertina of busyness this last week. Now I can slow down.

I'm on the narrowboat I was on last year and the year before to teach English for a fortnight. I collected two of the students at Birmingham airport and we travelled on to meet the boat at Rugeley. All eight have now had a go at driving the boat and everyone has learnt how locks work. On our gentle watery way we passed great flurries of swallows, one kingfisher and a boat being built in a field. Then to Great Haywood Junction to fill the water tanks and stop for the night.

We ate illuminated by the flashing lights of a fire engine rescuing a cow that had fallen in the river.  There's a Dutch children's story about that.

Intermittent internet so random blipping and minimal commenting for the next two weeks.
