Dog Days

Things started early this morning here in the land of four dogs and two teen age girls.  Bodhi, seen here on the couch and his sister Phoebe decided it was time to eat breakfast at 5:30, OilMan was up with Ozzie at 6:00 and I got up soon thereafter. Matt and OilMan and I hit the trail with Ozzie by 7:15 before it got too hot. Everybody enjoyed the hike except Ozzie who is limping badly. We're not sure what is wrong, but taking a three mile hike probably didn't help. He is the only one who has been in the pool today.

Matt and OilMan went out to a deli for salads and sandwiches for everybody. After they left, Claire decided that she would have lunch with a friend and texted Matt, but he never checked his messages. They came back with a big bag of food, including Claire's unwanted salad, but not including two salads, so he had to go back. Before he got back with those salads, Amy had left to take Claire to her friend's house. When she got back, OilMan and Matt were both asleep, so Amy and I went out to look for a new rug for the bedroom.  It's a good thing we are all going out to dinner…together with any luck.

In addition to the two big blond dogs, whose goal in life seems to be to sit in our laps, and Ozzie who is staying off his feet in the bedroom, there is Gus (see extra) whose goal in life seems to be to drive everyone else crazy. He doesn't especially like to sit on laps, but he will run straight over anybody who happens to be in his way. There is a reason why we have a dark brown couch and they have several white couches….

The dogs do seem to be the one consistent feature in a group of ebbing and flowing humans, and they have certainly kept us entertained. By the time we leave, Gus will no longer feel he has to protect himself (and everybody else) from Ozzie who, in fact, pays no attention to him, and things will be slightly calmer here.
