The Queen in the Mud

One for Derelict Sunday . Affectionately know to locals as the Ryde Queen but in fact just Ryde,The paddle steamer Ryde rusts in the mud built in 1937 for the Southen Railway she became H M S Ryde in 1939 and went in to service as a mine sweeper her last war time battle was off the beaches of Normandy (Operation Neptune) she left Royal Navey service in 1945, she ended hers days as intended finally in 1969 on the Ryde to Portmouth service having carried many a cheerful holiday maker RIP Ryde, Rust In Peace old girl see extra photos
