Bavaria week 1 day 2

Today we drove to Sonthofen, to get some walking maps for that area (Sonthofen is in a valley with mountains either side). We found the tourist information centre, but they were closed for lunch. We decided to follow their example, and had our lunch on a bench in a small slightly shady green patch. Then we went back around the corner to tourist info, and got a map, and a small book of walks in the area, with length and an altitude graph.

I found a nice looking walk, which it said was 3 hours long, and didn't look too strenuous. We then drove to one of the named places on the map, called Zaumberg, and started walking. It was quite warm, but for the first half of the walk it wasn't too bad. When we started to loop back around, we had to go through quite a few cow's fields, which I didn't enjoy very much. On the way back, we walked near to a big lake called Großer Alpsee. Unfortunately we had to walk along a road at this point, which was very hot, with the sun beating down on us from behind.

Extras are:
Female Scorpionfly
Red-veined Darter
Soldier Beetle
