A woman prime minister ...

... "this will never happen in a thousand years, unfortunately", explained Mrs Davison, who I met at the refurbished National Museum of Scotland.

She was there giving out leaflets in support of extending the franchise to women. She was keen to point out it was only fair for women to be treated equally as men but that the prime minister, Herbert Asquith and his liberal government, was of the thought that women should not concern themselves with such complex issues.

She also let me into a secret, that she was going to the Derby next week at Epsom, and that something exciting may happen!

It's all about equality.
