On Top of the World

We have had the most wonderful day.
It took about 2 hours to drive to the Dolomites in northern Italy. Amazing mountains and quite different from the alps.
The weather is hot. Up to 30C but in the mountains we had a brief storm which soon cleared.
We went up a very high cable car (to 2,800m) for terrific views. The clouds came and went which only made it even more interesting.

Last night's concert was also superb. Beethoven's 3rd and 6th symphonies performed by Concentus Musicus. The conductor, Jeremie Roehrer, less than 30 years old has a very big future. I know very little about classical music but even I could tell this was outstanding.

Just for a cultural change we are now watching the final of the European Football Championships with our friends Axel and Lydia. They have looked after us so well and Axel has driven us almost 1000km over the last few days. Tomorrow we have to leave them and head for Munich.

(For those concerned about Wally's foot, he tore his Achille's tendon just before we left home but he is managing well).
