recipe #4

aaahhhh, the healing powers of creation.
ok, so i only made bread, some miniature toad in the holes and some onion gravy, but i like it.
these days, i never really get to create or fix or mackle or mend anything at work. all i work on is shining my arse and making the ends of my index fingers flat!
i used to be an engineer. a good one. a creative one. an inventive one. now i manage people and dealing with the latest spat or absence or 'shesaidthissoiturnsroundandsayssohesayssoiwent...'

shut the f*** up!!!

anyway, the things that bring levity and calm these days (apart from shiraz or single malt) seem to be cooking and fixing up bikes.
i dream of running a record shop/cafe/bike repair place. maybe in a few years time when kepno is ready for it...

until then, here is recipe number 4 in my blip career...
sun dried tomato, seed, grain and honey bread
650g or seed and grain bread flour (normal white bread flour but mixed with wheat and barley flakes, kibbled rye (use northern accent), sunflower seeds, linseed and millet).
a bit of salt (but not much)
a good dollop of honey
15g of soft butter
a load of sun-dried tomatoes, chopped up small
7g packet of wonder yeast and
400ml of warm water.

mix it up, knead for 10 minutes (the best bit), split into two loaf tins, leave somewhere warm to prove for 30 minutes then whack in the oven at gas #8 for half hour

tap the bottom when it comes out and listen for a unique, hollow sound.
stand on a rack so the bottom crusts-up.
slice and eat while still warm.

ace!
