Fridlander & Co

From what we can find out, Fridlander & Co. of London were upmarket jewellery and watch retailers as opposed to original manufacturers. Apparently they sold in-house brands of watches produced by anonymous 3rd party concerns. Notwithstanding, this piece dates from approximately 1890 and the case is of sterling silver. We have recently had the watch assessed for mechanical repair but unfortunately full restoration may no longer be practicable.

In any event this watch once belonged to Norma's maternal grandfather and has very much a personal connection for her. I wanted to give this posting a sense of canvas texture to provide more of a mellow, antique appearance. The extra pic shows the closed silver case with corrected white balance.
