Ness of Brodgar excavation.

I went out to the excavation at the Ness of Bordgar. A beautiful sunny day but the combination of high winds and lots of pollen meant that my eyes were streaming. Lots of young birds about- of about 25 common terns near the bridge several were youngsters and the red-breasted merganser female with 5 young was nice. Curlews and redshank on the RSPB also obviously had young nearby. Masses of wildflowers including ox-eye daisies, cats-ear, buttercups, ragged robin, kidney vetch etc. More on flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/octobermoth/
