Life and death

It took me a long time to decide which shot to post today. In the end these reed beetles in the act of creating more little beetles seemed the right choice - I did consider the title "Mind where you put your feet!" as it looks like he may be about to poke her in the eye.

The extra shot is of the more brutal, but equally important side of nature. The blue tailed damselfly was still struggling when I spotted it trapped in the spiders web, but all resistance had ended by the time I took this shot (the light was irritatingly poor by then as well) - this one would have had the title "Damsel in distress" had I chosen it for my main blip.
