Monsaraz

The Alentejo is nothing if not picturesque. Eventually got our car this afternoon, and went the long way home, visiting the Alqueva reservoir on the way. It was baking hot and we had a swim, me in my underwear - no-one else around... Then wended our way up this hill to the village at the top - Monsaraz, which some think is the prettiest village in Portugal, and was held by the Knights Templar, as defence against Spain, just on the other side of what was the Guadiana River, and is now the largest reservoir in Europe. It certainly is pretty... impossible to decide whether to show the views from up high or inside the walls, but decided to give its setting. Hopefully, will go again...

And for those like our son, who think we're on permanent holiday, we spent the morning very usefully with a pastor and his wife in Évora, arranging the visit of a team, which includes a girl from our church. And then another meeting tonight, back here in Mora. Amongst other things, but blip always gets the best bits of the day!

PS Have come back and added two extras, because this main one seemed so boring... a detail of when we were swimming (no, not me in my underwear, Larchlea!) and another as we entered the village - felt like a resurrection moment.
