Hale's Bar

Undoubtedly one of the oldest inns in Harrogate, Hale's Bar was certainly in existence in the mid eighteenth century because it had sulphur wells in its cellar, before they were forbidden in 1770. The inn has had several names but retains the name of the landlord who took over there in 1882.

There are still gas lights in the bar, which was filmed as part of the publicity for the film Chariots of Fire
