Lost

Lost among the grasses, a high-soaring marvel of nature becomes food for the most grounded of creatures.  I love the engineering and architecture that millions of years of evolution built into feathers.  They are so delicate and lightweight and amazingly intricate.  And I think it's brilliant that even the most "colorful" of feathers have no pigment, at all.  Rather, they refract and reflect specific wavelengths of light to give the illusion of color.
