Corin Loop

A 17km loop walk heading east out of Durrus, up boggy slopes, through dark forest (no trolls today), and then west along the ridge with views south to Roaringwater Bay and north to Dunmanus and Bantry bays with the Sheep's Head in between. Then a gruelling climb up to the cairn on Mount Corin where, shock, horror, a selfie was taken - see extras - I am the one on the left :).
The return leg was a long, long road walk on a road with no footpath, blind bends and fast traffic (although 'traffic' here means a few vehicles here and there). A mega-size ice cream was welcome. I saw only one person during the 5 hours - a woman strimming the verge outside her hyper-neat bungalow on the road back. I feel so lucky to be in such a beautiful and remote place.
