Chuffed to bits and so proud

We did it! Finished the quilt and took it back to Wells Next the Sea for a photograph. We took the 14 kids in sewing club, the 4 members of staff and the after school club coordinator to the seaside for the day and we have had the best day ever! (well according to a year 3 girl)

The kids were amazing. They have played, got wet, met dogs on the beach, dried off and got wet again! They only complained when they had to go home.  The staff all put some money in a kitty and bought an ice cream for everyone at the end of the day. What fun we have had.

The quilt: - will be going to the Festival of quilts at the NEC. The kids painted and dyed the background fabric, drew and appliqued the huts, mermaid and bucket and spade, used cheats trapunto for the castle and made bunting with the name of the beach (school name).  They have used the new sewing machine we bought with our winnings last year, and this is so much better than last years. As adults we have done very little - but we did sew in all the ends from the applique.

I am so proud of them all. I can't wait to show all the school and staff tomorrow in the Governors award assembly.
