Bees and all that Jazz

Had a really enjoyable day meeting a friend, Carly for lunch at White Row Farm near Frome where we used to teach together despite getting lost as the road through Maiden Bradley was closed.

This evening Brigit Strawbridge  who is passionate about everything to do with bees gave a short talk at Shaftesbury Town Hall interspersed with a community choir from Shaftesbury called Pallida who sang a medley of jazz songs followed by 'The Bee Cycle' - a selection of songs composed of 'bee' poems by various poets. The hall overlooks the Blackmore Vale and it was a lovely setting  decorated with some naturally arranged Summer flowers. Brigit mentioned the biodiversity still existing in the Outer Hebrides where she had been to find a rare bee - a yellow one ( can't remember the name ) which has been driven to the North. But she was really positive about what can be done to help bees - really inspiring.
I was sitting on my own but two women sat by me one of whom was a yoga teacher and seemed a really kindred spirit.  There's definitely no such thing as 'coincidence'.I'm so glad I went to it.
