Bastille Day

Whoah! Up to the Castle to see Simply Red. I'd never seen them before but I always had a bit of a soft spot for them. Bit of a shock to realise it's 25 years since Stars was released. Or is it a bit of a shock to realise 1991 is 25 years ago? Anyway, it was a quite fabby concert - far better than I imagined. The band were excellent, the sound was great, and the crowd, reliving their youth, were quite uninhibited in their dancing and singing along. And to think some people are sniffy about them!
And then home to the news of the attack at Nice on Bastille day. As we've seen in Florida, even one single person with a warped view of humanity and ideology can be a danger to the rest of us. A hard one to tackle, if that's not too obvious and trite.
