He had to admit that his first day as a pizza delivery beetle was not going quite as planned.

While I was in Gifu and Nagoya my wife, who was fed up with hearing the male beetles battering each other, used a little trowel to separate all the beetles.  She then found homes for all but three with friends and their kids.  This is pretty impressive to say she can't actually pick them up and is terrified of them flying.

There were 19 in total.  Ten males and 9 females.

My daughter has named one Munchy.  She puts him on one hand and strokes him.  She thinks he's cute.
