Yellow Toadflax

This should have been a photograph of the elusive purple emperor butterfly but yet again it eluded me so here instead is a yellow toadflax (linaria vulgaris) which sat near by and is rather less mobile. Apparently toadflax used to be called gallwort in Sussex and was, according to Thomas Culpepper, added to drinking water to rid chickens of galls.
