Phone Home?

A very wet day with low cloud and sea fog has put paid to our plans for today.
So a day for for catching up on reading some of this past week's newspapers and there has been a LOT of news.

Think it could brighten up later so l may regret posting now but l've always been intrigued by the derelict phone box that once must have had pride of place in relatively recent times.

It's sited on the edge of the farm where our caravan plot is.
Who used it:
Holiday makers reporting home?
999 calls for emergencies?
Lovers just wanting to hear the sound of each other's voice?
All ghosts now.

Can still remember as a child being taken to a phone box to be taught how to use it. Picking up the receiver to hear the dialling tone, three old pennies rattling down the slot, dialling the number, listening for the ring and then when hearing a voice hear the money drop. If no one answered you could press the release the button to get your money back.

In this day of advanced technology and communication systems, once undreamed of, it's pleasing to see this relic of the past still commanding a prominent position even if you can't open the door and go in.
