A Thoughtful Neighbor's Gifts

You may remember Phil's June 8 blip of a lovely silver bookmark from Thailand, one of a pair given to us by A, our next door neighbor. He'd been there for three weeks with his Thai-born wife, T, who'd gone back to help her newly widowed mother, and was staying on for several months.

T returned recently, and yesterday when I was just trying to conjure up something for supper, she brought over a delicious beef dish she'd made and Asian black rice, all ready to eat. I quickly steamed some vegetables and we dug into our wonderful meal -- sorry, I didn't even think of blipping it!

T also brought us these dried mangos from Thailand -- the best I've ever tasted, quite moist and very fresh-tasting -- and in the tiny decorative vials, a liquid that she explained could be applied to stop the itching of insect bites or to ease a headache.

Beautiful, thoughtful, useful gifts -- my favorite kind! We are blessed to have such thoughtful neighbors.
