Coventry Cathedral

We visited Coventry this morning, so popped along to the Cathedral. It was looking rather beautiful in the bright sunshine.
After the mediaeval Cathedral was destroyed by bombing in 1940, Provost Howard made a commitment not to revenge, but to forgiveness and reconciliation with those responsible, and he had the words ‘Father Forgive’ inscribed on the wall behind the altar of the ruined building.
Even for someone who is not at all religious, the sight of the altar with these words and the lovely light and shadows, was quite special.
If you look large, you can see the words - and also you'll spot a young lady taking a selfie!
