I'm fascinated by mythology, and Medusa has a particular appeal (hence the only reason for me seeing the awful latest film version of Clash of the Titans).
So, it was great to come across two ancient stone sculptures of the woman and her snaky hair in the Basilica Cistern - an underground water-filtration chamber built in the 6th century.
Here, the people give it some perspective.
