vintage gnome

We moved into this house almost 20 years ago and the gnomes were already in residence. I've no idea how old they might be. There are two of them (this one clutching a fish) and two toadstools. They were once painted in bright colours but most of the paint has now peeled off.

Garden gnomes aren't considered cool nowadays, but they have been around for longer than you might think...there's a little bit of history here. Even David Bowie wrote a song about them :-)
