One of our 98 (Mary's Girl)

Excellent Student
16th July 2016:
This is Cecilia Mtegha.
Cecilia is 15 and in Form 1
She is living with her grandmother since her parents passed away with AIDS Virus, so her Gogo (Grandmother) has to care for her 4 own children, and the grandchildren, as well, which is hard. She is old and the 4 children should be caring for her.
A local teacher told Gogo about the Wells for Zoe and how they may be able to help and now Cecilia’s education is secure.  She is working hard and has gone from 22nd in her class to 20th.

She walks about 25 minutes to Lupaso Primary School and has full attendance at Saturday good despite rain, illness or whatever.

She is a truly amazing young woman.

She is being supported by:
Cathal Carroll,
Ballinlough,
Co Roscommon,
Ireland.
In memory of his mother Mary, who died too early, in her sixties, who too was an amazing woman.

The extra pic shows Florence and Chris preparing a meal of Nsima, Beans and Cabbage, probably the only meal many girls will get today or maybe even tomorrow.
The second extra pic is of Mary's wedding day, to Brendan, in Bekan Church, in 1958. She was a beauty who loved hats! Rest in peace Mary
