Canicule

Went to the market in the Fontbarlettes area of Valence which is a small piece of North Africa transplanted to France. Mme A and the girls bought cheap clothes; I carried the (halal) spit-roasted chickens that provided part of lunch for ten.

Earlier A and I attended the funeral of her cousin's mother-in-law in Malissard: the church was packed with some standing outside.

Too hot to go outside this afternoon: 36 with a humid wind from the south. No TdF today, so it's back to my book now. Another family gathering tonight!
