To detach the neck of an old guitar that has slipped out of true you need to drill discreet 2mm holes through the fingerboard at the back of the dovetail.

Then you fire up the espresso machine & with a tube attached to the steam outlet. You inject high pressure steam into your wee holes. With patience + some well applied brute force, the neck will come free.
