Most Useful (Tiny Tuesday)

"Flax is grown for its oil, used as a nutritional supplement, and as an ingredient in many wood-finishing products. Flax is also grown as an ornamental plant in gardens. Flax fibers are used to make linen. The Latin species name usitatissimum means "most useful" (Wikipedia).

This is one of my favorite wildflowers. It's a simple, straight-forward shape, a beautiful blue color, and the spent flowers form capsules on a long stem; giving it long term interest in the landscape.
