Another great idea.

A few years ago we bought a 6m x 3m gazebo but the spars are not very strong and a few of them bent and broke over time. Made it impossible to put up properly and a few months ago I was preparing to take it to the landfill tip.
Then I thought that, when we get better weather, I could hacksaw the broken half off and just use it as a 3x3m gazebo but didn't think much of it as the better weather was so long in coming.

This morning Marlane said why don't we have a go at the gazebo so I dragged it out of the garage into the garden. It weighs a ton so one advantage of doing this is that it would be lighter and easier to get out and put away.

When we looked at it Marlane spotted that it is not riveted, as I thought, it is screwed and allen keyed so out came the power screwdriver and we dismantled the duff half and used some of the good spars to repair the better half where they weren't broken but were a bit bent and in danger of cracking.
We had to swap some of the fittings too but that then left the cover. I thought we would just cut it in half and stitch up the best we could. Marlane, being a woman, saw immediately that the best way was to cut out the middle section and stitch it together and make the pointy bits match. Brilliant idea but it meant a huge sewing task for Marlane but out came the overlocker and sewing machine and the photo is the result.

The extra photo is the only one I can find of the complete 6 x 3 version. I've darkened it so you can see the ridge of the original roof.
She is very talented with a sewing machine :-)
