Runrig at Shepherd's Bush Empire

Twice up to London and back from Maidstone today. First for a project board meeting for the prison work and second for the Runrig Concert. Good thing I'm not travelling up again tomorrow.

I wasn't sure if the One Day Travel Card entitled me to do more than one trip up and back but it didn't say I couldn't and nobody checked anyway. Good value for £25.

Always great to see Runrig, they've been part of our lives ever since Susan and I met. Love their music and lyrics and seen them many, many times. Can't pass an opportunity by as you never know how much longer they'll be playing; 43 years and counting.

Can't say the Shepherd's Bush Empire is my favourite venue, the sound is never quite right but it was better for Rurig than the supporting act. They performed a mixture of songs from their new and final studio album "The Story" as well as old favourites and songs from their extensive catalogue. The band were extremely well received by their ecstatic audience who sang along with gusto and great heart.

We managed to dash from the Shepherd's Bush to Victoria in time to catch the 23.22 train back to Maidstone, walked home from the station, eventually getting home at 1.00am.
