Badwater By Proxy

Since the daytime temperatures started soaring, I've been prevaricating about doing a 22 km run. 10 km, no problem. Despite the 35 degrees, I did it without stopping, keeping in mind what the runners in the recent Badwater 135 endured. Here is the story of one runner, Cory Reese, to inspire you.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
