A concrete love affair

On the M6 just north of Lancashire's River Lune

Day Fourteen ( Okay I missed one yesterday)

Bearing 343

New bridge constructions on the M6 close to Lancaster. Slightly further south a new viaduct is under construction across the River Lune at junction 34 meaning the alignment is slightly altered here.

Had to include an EXTRA PHOTO ( not captured between 333&343) of my favourite service station captured, as above, from the passenger seat....

Travelling north this view is always greatly anticipated by me as you turn the long long left hand turn and eventually this beautiful service statiion, this fantastic monument to modernism, emerges into view behind the concrete bridge structure. It is an iconic tower, redolent jet-age romanticism and the pioneering spirit of mass motoring’s early years.

A stunning structure, thankfully Grade II listed.
