Peyrelade Castle

We said Bon Voyage to our M70 Brian who was cycling home to Wilmslow in Cheshire. None of us envied him as he set off in temperatures in excess of 30 degrees centigrade!

We then set off to visit Peyrelade Castle near Boyne. The drive up the gorge was beautiful but the road up to the castle was definitely single track round hairpin bends. Fortunately we were lucky to meet vehicles at points where we could pass safely. The heat was blistering as we left the car to have a look around the castle. This was yet another castle bulit on top of a rock promontory. The view in the background is of the Gorge du Tarn which is where we left the main road.

We had a short walk but the heat was oppressive and we returned to Boyne for refreshments before returning to prepare for leaving France.
