perfect wild camping spot

As a first wild camping trip with the girls, we got pretty lucky.

From North Harris we found a fantastically perfect opportunity.  We walked across to Vallay Island; a tiny deserted tidal island, accessible only at low tide, complete with abandoned formal house and farm and a whole north coast backed with white beaches.

It felt like a bit of an adventure, especially for the kids;  walked about a mile or so across wet sand flats at very low tide, with boots hung around our necks.

We found a peach of a wild camping spot, among machair, perched on the edge of white sand beaches with views north west  over the Atlantic for a perfect sunset.

We sighted golden eagles and had a mum and 2 baby otters playing in the waves close to the tent.
