... this poster wishing good luck to local boy Ross Murdoch at the Olympics next month.

At first I wasn't quite sure what "We're ready when you are!" meant, but with Postman Pat standing there holding a paintbrush and tin of paint, I presume it means ready to paint the village pillar-box gold in the event of Ross winning a gold medal.

(There was umbrage taken by some villagers two years ago when the Post Office refused to allow the pillar-box to be painted gold when Ross won gold at the Commonwealth Games.)
