Sabrina's Hat

While I was in Shrewsbury today I went into The Quarry park and into The Dingle, a beautiful area of flowers and water designed by Percy Thrower who was head gardener.

This is a sculpture of Sabrina, goddess of the River Severn that flows in a meander around the town and borders The Quarry. She lounges in a tranquil watery corner of The Dingle and keeps an eye on the visitors.

Today she was wearing a pointed cardboard party hat on her head. It would be interesting to know the method employed by the person that gave it to her. Did they paddle or hang from the top of the bridge? Perhaps she went to a party herself and like it too much to remove it.
