shotlandka's weebig world

Toddler dreams

Callum, Ranza and I had a lovely walk this morning, with several bin lorries, lots of cars, vans and two motorbikes, then of course the ferry coming in and going out, and two unusual delights. Firstly, as we arrived at the pier, a crane was depositing a container into the car park area, for the guys working on the dredging operations to use as a break room. Then the big digger was building a platform to start dredging by the pier. It seems the plan is to get us a bigger ferry in future, but, as no-one has dredged in Lochranza for more years than anyone but the most elderly can remember, the silt makes that impossible at present. As you can see from the two photos, the ferry is much less interesting than the digger to a certain young man! On the way home we saw them start dredging.

We also had a go on the swing, which was quite a challenge as the baby swing is no longer there, so I had to swing holding Callum on my lap. Fine for most of it , but when I had to grab and then hold the dog's collar to stop her dashing across the road to beg the bin men for more dog biscuits. I was then stuck with a arm out either side of the swing until the bin lorry moved on, as I would have had to let one or other go to get out! Ranza had already had two lots of biscuits from her best mate on the bin lorry, one when they were at ours, then when we got stuck behind them in a traffic jam! Yes, really, a traffic jam, in Lochranza, and it didn't involve sheep! A council employee had parked their van on the track and gone off somewhere, and the bin lorry got stuck, and we got stuck behind them, with a wall on one side and a fence on the other, so Callum and I couldn't get past, though Ranza made it - anything for dog biscuits. Rather cute was seeing that the bin lorry has it's own wee teddy bear to keep an eye on loading operations. Ah, Arran, it's quite a place!

PS Thanks to all who commented on the shot of Callum yesterday, your ongoing interest in very much appreciated!
