Ugbrooke

After a short walk along the sea wall towards Dawlish Warren we went off to the stately pile that in Ugbrooke House. Nestled in the Devon countryside near Chudleigh, standing in wonderful Capability Brown designed grounds, Ugbrooke is the family home of Lord and Lady Clifford and has been in the family since 1604 dateing back 900 years with a mention in the Doomsday book.

We had a picnic lunch in one of the gardens then retreated to the Orangery cafe for a drink. After a little explore of the other gardens we joined an escorted tour of the house. Later we walked down to the lake, it was very tranquil as can be seen from today's pic.

On leaving there we made our way to Torquay where we had tea in the town's oldest pub, The Hole in the Wall. Excellent beer and food, highly recommended!
