Beauty in decay

We have a very small courtyard now, but I am amazed at the treasures it yields for me to experiment with. This is a tiny bougainvillea petal that was hit by frost a few weeks ago.  I found it lying on the pavement, quite wet, but relatively intact.  I love how clear the structure is and that it is clinging to its still somewhat green seed. I abandoned my black tile today in favour of a walnut box I have (although I have used the underside, which is a little the worse for wear).  I really like this against the warmth of the wood. The petal is 3.2cm in length.
