Surprise

Had another wander round Orta in the morning but decided against a boat trip and instead drove around it on tiny, quiet roads admiring the stunning views.
Stopped at Bergamo for delicious lunch in tiny deli that K had found...we arrived just before it closed having got a bit lost in twisty streets. The girl in the cafe suggested we went up to the old town so we went up for a wander-gorgeous basilica (see extra-13th century frescoes) and little cobbled streets, some nice shops and a rip off cafe with the wrong type of lemon soda for K.
Then a drive....to Verona. Trouble parking but nice little place right round the corner from Juliet's balcony. Another delicious pasta dinner (this time ravioli filled with porcini and ceps) but clearly time was pressing then I found out why-we were going to the opera in the old amphitheatre! Wow! Who said K couldn't plan?!
La Traviata.....sublime. Amazing set and great cast
What a brilliant day
