Fly on flower

Warwick backblip 1

First day of a week's 'holiday' from my day job to work on our stringed instrument stall at Warwick Folk Festival.

After walking Louie by the Wooler Water, where there were lots of these blue-purple flowers, most of the day was spent preparing and packing for the festival.

There was a slight glitch (and a bit of a panic!) when the towing lock on the caravan refused to unlock, requiring a trip to the garage for WD40, and we finally set off for MrM's dad's in Lincolnshire just before 8.00pm. A good time to travel to avoid the traffic but, by the time we'd set up the caravan in MrM Snr's driveway, we didn't get to bed until well after 2.00am, several hours after our usual bedtime!

PS Having tried - and failed miserably - to identify this flower, we asked a friend! It is, apparently, Common blue sow thistle. Thanks Martin M!
