Expecting the Unexpected

I got to for a few hours today. It was a lovely afternoon - sunny but not too warm. I went up to the moorland fringe, mainly to look for some grassland fungi we'd come across when we were doing our bird survey a couple of weeks ago - no sign! There have been reports of 2 Red Kite locally as well. Not out and about where I was today. I did see a Kestrel, a Stonechat, several Curlews, Swallows and Swifts, Linnets and Meadow Pipits. The heather was starting to flower, and the moorland was looking beautiful under the blue sky. As I returned to the car, I saw two lizards basking on some rocks. The second one is in extras
