The Wainstones

Day 3: Osmotherley to Clay Bank Top. Today was the day that last year made us want to do this walk. It didn't start off promisingly as we left the B and B in Osmotherley in rain, and then climbed in fog for a couple of miles. At Scarth Wood Moor the C2C path joined us, and it was a case of lots of " do you remembers?" and " this time last years!" We were passed by only one couple- 2 blokes doing the Cleveland way in 6 days who ran past, and when we caught them at the lunch stop at Lordstones, after Carlton Moor, seemed surprised we had made it thus far. W@nkers! Any way after that , the sun came out and we had the joy of the switch back of Cringle Moor, Cold Moor and Hasty Bank ( aka the rollercoaster or dinosaur's back). Up and down and up and down and up and through the Wainstones, and down to Clay Bank. 13 challenging miles but absolutely stunning scenery, and the reason why we're here !
