HOLKER HALL AND GARDENS

After a splendid breakfast at the B&B we set off for Holker Hall. It was wonderful. The house seemed quite different to other stately homes, perhaps because it is lived in and the rooms the public can explore are often in use, once we had gone home of course. There are no roped off areas, you can roam at will among their photos, collections, art and books. There was even a peek at Queen Mary's thunderbox. That room was definitely vacant.

Then the gardens and grounds. Absolutely amazing. It was a perfect day and the flowers glowed in the sunshine, with bees buzzing and butterflies fluttering. There are so many different areas, from cottage garden to wild meadows, fountains and woodland. A super day out.

And it was a very full day out, until back to our cosy B&B for an evening of chatting and sewing. I am still on with my bird mobile, S with a cross-stitch project.

Extras are of Holker Hall.
