Canmore Hoodoo

A hoodoo - or in French: demoiselles coiffées (ladies with hairdos) are formed whenever a hard rock protects a layer of soft rock from erosion. In Canmore, these ones have been formed by a hard layer of rock e.g. a boulder,  sitting on top the glacial till, and protecting it from the erosion happening. As the ice vanishes, the rock pillar is left standing.
