Andrew Barclay 615

Diesel hydraulic loco built by Andrew Barclays at Kilmarnock in 1977. One of 20 locos made for the National Coal Board. Powered by a 450hp Rolls Royce engine, it weighs in at 52 tons. Seen here on the Aln Valley Railway site at Lionheart Business Park. At present only a small length of track is laid, but the project will eventually (funds permitting) reopen the branch line from Alnwick (but not from the original station) to Almouth.
