Reflections

day 8
A short bus ride to reduce the road walking as  our campsite meant the ridge route for the first stage wasn't feasible but there were a load of new flowers in the woods. Then we arrived at a flat area that used to be a lake and still has a meandering river with lots of pools.
A short detour was made to visit the Lac de Miage and the glacier that fed it (actually now 4 lakes due to glacial debris) before heading along the river and a short climb to a refuge. from there is was along a higher valley, a visit to a small museum in an old custom post and over the border back into France.
Lower down there were fantastic flowers (see extras) in great swathes, marmots and a donkey. The only downside to the day was the 4k of road walking (though pleasant scenery) to the rough camp where the washing facilities were the river - there was a toilet.
